BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Here’s your chance to embarrass some of the folks you hear on the radio everyday. It also makes a pretty good early Father’s Day gift!

Sportsnet 650 — our sister station — is hosting its first ever Sports Day tomorrow in Burnaby.

Program Director Craig MacEwen says you’ll have the chance to compete against some of the on-air personalities to win great prizes.

“And the great thing is is that they aren’t very good athletically. So if you go up and challenge them in the 40 metre dash, I think you have an opportunity to beat them.”

A few alumni athletes are also expected to drop by.

You’ll be able to take part in plenty of old school activities and some new games, which have been specially designed for the event.

And don’t worry, everyone gets a participation ribbon, “as long as you try your best and have fun.”

“We have a lot of people from the station from Scott Rintoul, Andrew Walker, [Satiar Shah], [James Cybulski], Perry Solkowski. The list goes on and on.”

They’ll also being giving out some swag, but the grand prize many will be vying for is an overnight stay in Seattle with tickets to Safeco Field on August 4 and 5 when the Toronto Blue Jays visit the Mariners.

The event run from noon until 4:00 p.m. at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.

Also, did we mention it’s free?
